Ke'ala, named after the delicate fragrance of the Hawaiian ginger, was born in Austin, Texas, and began her dance training at a young age. In addition to hula, she has studied classical ballet, jazz, tap, belly dancing, and various forms of Polynesian dance.

Ke'ala has trained with several hula masters, including Kumu Hula Keith Awai and Kumu Hula Ellen Gay Delarosa (Polynesian Cultural Center), and Kumu Hula Frank Keli'i Chang (Houston & Dallas, TX). In April 2006 she competed with Kumu Chang in the Merrie Monarch Hula Festival, the world's most prestigious hula competition.

Ke'ala is currently dancing in Kaua'i at the historic Kilohana Plantation, and is a member of Kumu Hula Leina'ala Pavao's Halau Ka Lei Mokihana.
